Henry Johnson, age 87 of Roanoke died Tuesday, July 21, 2009. He was born July 7, 1922, a son of the late Frank and Minnie Johnson, and was also preceded in death in 1997 by his wife of 55 years, Katherine C. Johnson; sisters Pat, Frances and Mary; brothers Woodrow, Lee and Sam. Surviving are his son Robert “Bob” Johnson, Roanoke; Daughter Doris (Roy) Johnson, Rocky Mount; five grandchildren, Paul (Paula) Johnson, Susan (Jeff) Woody, Mark Johnson, Rocky Mount, Eddie and Brook Johnson, Colorado, Michelle Johnson, Florida; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his special friend, Doris Hurd, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from The Abbey Chapel, Sherwood Memorial Park 1 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in honor of Paula Johnson and Josh Robertson to your local chapter of the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Abbey, and other times at the home of Doris and Roy Johnson. Arrangements by Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Rocky Mount.
